Prof. Dr. Yusuf TEKİN

Tekin was born in 1970 in Tortum, Erzurum and completed his primary and secondary education in Rize. In 1994, he graduated from the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University. The same year he started his professional career as a research assistant for the program of Politics and Social Sciences, the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Cumhuriyet University.

Tekin completed his master's degree in 1997 and his PhD in 2002 in the fields of politics and social sciences. He was appointed as a lecturer to the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Gaziosmanpaşa University. He served as an assistant professor at this faculty until 2007 when he became an associate professor. He worked as a lecturer in various universities until 2011. During this period, he held various senior positions including the head of department, vice-dean, deputy dean, university senate member, and faculty and institute board member.

In 2011, Tekin was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. In this position, he carried out joint projects with several universities on the problems of young people and university youth. In 2013, he started to work as the Undersecretary for the Ministry of National Education. While holding this position, he carried out work on the establishment of education policies in coordination with universities and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin was appointed as the rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University on September 15, 2018.

Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin delivered lectures and speeches at universities and in civil society organizations on the nineteenth-century Ottoman modernization, Turkish political life, the history of Turkish democracy, election systems, constitutions, and human rights. Tekin has published books and articles on these topics.

Throughout his academic career, Tekin has given seminars on youth issues and youth policies at universities. He has done academic advising and projects and participated in relevant activities in many civil society organizations.

Tekin also holds the presidency of the board of trustees of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University.

Tekin is married with three children. He is fluent in English.
